Which Home Based Opportunity will work for you ?

How to start a home based business

If you are seriously looking at ways of earning money (either in your spare time or as a full time income) then there are lots of different opportunities.

The most important fact to realise is that everyone is unique and a business that will work for one person might not work for another.  That is why you need to find a method or business that will suit your own individual circumstances.

The 3 most popular home business plans are :

Internet,

Health, Sport and Beauty,

Ebay.

So, which one should you select to help you achieve best results ?

In order to help you select we have shown below examples of each of the 3 different methods. In all cases you can start them in your spare time (a few hours in the evenings or on weekends).

Method 1   -   Running a health, sport or nutrition business click here

Method 2   -   Earning money using the Internet..   click here

Method 3   -   Selling products through ebay.  click here

Method 1   -    Running a health, sport or beauty business

If you are looking for an easy business to start, with minimal or no investment and earn money from day 1 then consider starting a health, sport or beauty business.

2 ways to make money:

  • Firstly - selling products and making money on each product sold

  • Secondly - in addition with a number of them you can also earn money from royalty income

(a bit like authors make money on each book sold, music artist on songs downloaded or sold, etc.)

The advantage of this type of business is that you can grow it as slowly or fast as you like.

If you just want to make some extra income simply find a product you feel comfortable with and concentrate on retailing the products. (due to the nature of this business you will get loads of help and support in how to find customers).

However if you want to earn "mega-bucks" then concentrating on the royalty income could get you very rich.

Key items to concentrate on :

1. The Products

It is important to concentrate on products you like and for which it's easy to get customers.  For example the "wellness" market (weight loss, healthy food, sports) is absolutely booming at the moment.

2. Reputation

Only consider well established businesses with a good reputation i.e. if they have been around for at least 5 to 10 years with most or all of their products sold through "independent distributors" - that way you know they will be able to provide all the help and support you need. .

3. Help and Support

The very best, and most successful, network businesses are very simple.  You simply take one of their "off-the-shelf" plans, include your own name, implement it and start making money. The simpler the method the easier it will be for you to make money quickly.

Laura B

Changed Career in her Spare Time

Laura was an accomplished special-education teacher but she was unsatisfied with her work and the direction her life was taking. "I loved work, but I was less then thrilled with the politics of the job and the people I worked with."

Laura's cousin introduced her to Herbalife. Her cousin had lost a great deal of weight and had kept it off by using Herbalife so Laura was eager to try it. "When I lost weight, increased my energy level and stopped getting sick from the students, I was so excited that all I could think about was getting everyone on these products."

Laura set her income goal at $4,000 a month and hit it in seven months. She quit her job and committed herself to the Herbalife business full-time. "I use all the products, wears the button and talk to lots of people about Herbalife products and the business opportunity."

Recently, she began using the Internet to attract more business but what she finds most rewarding is "I've made lasting friendships with people from all over the world." Laura enthuses " I wish everyone could be as happy as I am."

Method 2   -  Earning money  using the Internet

Making money on the Internet is the number 1 choice for most people looking to earn extra income.

Most people's first thought on making money on the internet is ebay (mentioned in method 3 below) but there are very many other ways of earning extra cash.

By far the 2 most popular (and easiest) methods are :

1. Adwords

If you look on this page you will see advertisements by Google. If you have a website or blog they are very easy to incorporate and will make you money all day long.  You will get paid money every time someone clicks on them and Google try to make sure they are linked to the content of your site.

It is probably the simplest and easiest way of making money.  However the amount you will get paid per advertisement is very little and you will need a lot of visitors to get a reasonable income.

2. Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing simply means that you direct a person to someone else's site, and if they then buy you get paid money. (commission).

The big advantage is that you don't need to spend any money on products, or stock, or even deal with customers.

Some of the world's largest businesses use this method and it's a well established way of making money.

By far the easiest way of getting started is to get one of the many manuals. A lot of them are very similar (there is only so much you can say about affiliate marketing) but the one we like is The Rich Jerk

Method 3   -   Selling products using Ebay

The secret to selling products on Ebay is to minimise your risks i.e. invest as little money as possible in stock.
